So back in May...or March, frankly I forget. Me and Digistar (and later Lost [or as you guys know him, Gear] and Koushiro (also goes by Athair, he's changed names a few times) decided to start a scanning group for rare artwork and any other artifacts we could get. We got some donations (well....not really, about 60% of the money was Digistar's, 30% was mine, and we ended up getting maybe 20 or 30 dollars in donations, of which to those of you who did I thank you, we literally ended up using every last dollar to get materials) and procured materials. We then did our first release, 'Computer Kids'...and no one noticed. Guess that tiny thread in the old WtW kinda got lost in the art mishmash, so then....nothing.
Combination of being busy with classes, work, and trying to have a lazy summer caused further releases to be delayed, along with my scanner not wanting to scan stuff properly when I tried in August. I went and borrowed a scanner in September to try and start again, and then WtW 'died' and time had to be spent bringing it back. Since then classes have been to busy to scan, but with a short amount of downtime I went back and found the first release, from before it was tagged, and went and retagged it with the new WtW Scans tag (everyone from the old group is still here). Hopefully around the end of November or mid-December I can get back to scanning some of the other wild stuff we were able to get.
The pages in this release are all of the same 'scene' hence the similarity between them, some of the pages are just small lines representing the mouths, or other stuff, some are floating heads, and quite a few are Takeru/TK standing around alone. I scanned them all, Koushiro did the HEAVY amount of cleaning up it took to get the art to look so clean (which there were arguments over whether it was made TO clean, but I will get back to that later), Digistar provided the original Digiscanners website design and an eye between me and Koushiro discussing (arguing possibly) over whether minor details vanished from the cleaned up and shrunken version, and Gear did the final website design and another eye for the quality of the scan and editing work... and oh yeah, Suzaku is sorta a group member, he really wasn't, but he yelled at us a bit that the colors looked weird and he smacked Koushiro around a bit to teach him how to clean stuff up better. The reason why on the last few pages you can see the pages behind was hey were taped together, and since I wasnt sure the paperstock used on some of it would take being removed I chose to leave it.
The materials we need for WtW Scans are expensive, and often times we only get the oppurtunity to get them once, since many of the things are one of a kind. Donations are not only appreciated, but needed for WtW Scans, it wont affect the site, but we only have so many materials to scan before we hit that wall. We missed out on stuff that some of you would practically cry about if you knew we lost it (few examples of a few things sketches of Izumi Spirit Evolving from Frontier, Daisuke eating toast from 02, Savers line art of a higher quality then a lineart book would ever give us, Takato and Guilmon sitting around, etc.). SO PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN! Thanks for listening to that.
WtW Scans will also have a few non Digimon releases. We current have a shooting script from the Super Sentai series 'Abaranger', and production quality reference line-art from Gundam Seed.
What about manga scanlations?...well...we arent doing them. You can find scanlations at any site, no reason for us to do what someone else has already done and is still doing. This is different and special. Maybe it isn't as good to you, I dont know, but at the very least it's something you might not see otherwise.
Now, for the final part of the release notes, each 'item' will have 2 releases. One will be in a zip file from the WtW Scans website, they will be reduced resolution (still relatively decent though) and cleaned up, made to look pristine. The problem there is, pristine means a few slight details might dissapear (while I noticed them, others didn't, so it might not matter to you). So a week or two later, a torrent will be placed up next to the zip file that holds the website version with an ULTRA HIGH resolution version, thats been straightened, and saved, but won't be cleaned up, so you get to see exactly what the pages look like in real life (although purely from a visual standpoint, the cleaned up versions look much nicer). So feel free to post and let us know what you think.
